Year 12 - Ethnicity
  • Ethnic minority groups made up 5% of the total Year 12 cohort.
  • However, ethnic data and analysis may be slightly skewed by the fact that 3% of the Year 12 cohort did not supply information on ethnicity. In addition the non-response/left area proportion is higher for leavers from minority ethnic groups.
  • Of those returning information on ethnicity:
    • The most popular choice of route across all groups was continuing in full time education.
    • A slightly higher percentage (1 percentage point more) of young people from white ethnic backgrounds chose to remain in full-time education.
    • The least popular route for all ethnicity groups was work based training with employed status and continued in education (less than 16 hours a week).
    • A higher percentage (1 percentage point difference) of those with white backgrounds fall into the employed category.
    • The NEET figure for those with white backgrounds and those from an ethinic minority background are very similar (2.6% and 2.7% respectively). However these figures may be slightly skewed by the fact that 3.6% of those whose ethnicity is unknown are NEET.
